Mission Viejo Neck Lift Orange County Surgical Specialists

For many people, the neck is one of the first areas of the body to show signs of aging. This area's exposure to sunlight and frequent, flexible motions make the skin and underlying tissues particularly susceptible to damage, stretching, and loss of elasticity. Improving the tone and contours of your neck can lend you a more youthful look and dramatically slow the progression of aging in this area. The success of your neck lift can depend greatly on the skill and experience of your surgeon. Reza Bolourian, M.D., F.A.C.S., of Orange County Surgical Specialists has over twenty years of experience in performing face and neck lift surgery. By focusing his practice on these specific areas, he stays on the cutting edge of surgical technique and has developed a reputation for delivering unparalleled results. He brings a caring and compassionate manner to his work, listening carefully to your needs when planning any procedure. Read on to learn more about a Mission Viejo neck lift with Dr. Bolourian.

What Is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is an effective approach to reducing signs of aging by targeting one of the areas where sun damage and loss of elasticity in the skin often show up first.

The techniques used in our Mission Viejo neck lift can include cervicoplasty, which is the removal of excess skin, and platysmaplasty, the repositioning of muscles. Liposuction can also be employed to remove excess fat deposits. This combination approach helps correct signs of aging on multiple fronts, providing all-over lift and sculpting while improving the look of the skin on the neck.

When it comes to our neck lift, Mission Viejo's OCSS performs it as an outpatient procedure in our onsite surgical facility. Recovery typically takes about two weeks, and the results are permanent. Working with a highly qualified surgeon to plan and perform your procedure can help you achieve amazingly effective and natural-looking results.

What Are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?

A neck lift addresses the often-overlooked signs of aging below the jawline, restoring youthful definition and harmony between the face and neck.

  • Eliminates sagging skin and neck bands for a smoother, firmer profile
  • Reduces the appearance of jowls and redefines the jawline
  • Contours the under-chin area, minimizing fullness and improving the angle
  • Tightens underlying muscles for lasting structural support
  • Enhances overall facial balance, especially in profile
  • Pairs seamlessly with facelifts or chin augmentation for full rejuvenation
  • Discreet incisions ensure minimal visible scarring and natural-looking outcomes

Your Mission Viejo Neck Lift Procedure

Your Mission Viejo neck lift procedure will be performed in our well-equipped onsite surgical facility. You may be given twilight sedation by IV along with local anesthesia. Dr. Bolourian may begin by performing liposuction under your chin and in the jowls.

He will then make small incisions behind your ears and under your chin to lift and tighten the platysma muscle in the neck, creating a more sculpted contour. He will also carefully remove excess skin to make the neck and jawline smoother and more youthful-looking. After the procedure, we will carefully monitor your comfort level before releasing you to return home the same day.

Neck Lift Results

After a neck lift, the skin of your neck will be noticeably smoother and more toned. Fatty deposits will be minimized, and the underlying muscles will be more youthfully taut and sculpted. Practicing good sun protection and keeping your skin well-hydrated can help maintain your results. Although the skin on your neck will still be prone to changes over time, these changes will be dramatically slowed by the elegant lifting and contouring achieved through the procedure. A neck lift can revitalize the look of your entire face by targeting an area that commonly shows signs of aging.

Neck Lift Recovery and Aftercare

We will provide you with a facial garment to support the tissues in the treatment area while they heal. You should wear this as often as possible for the first two weeks of recovery. You may have bruising in the treatment area, but this usually fades within three to four days. You should be ready to return to work after one week. Most people do not experience much discomfort during recovery and need minimal pain medication.

A personal work of art is the only way to explain how pleased and grateful I am.

Having full facial contouring (lip lift, brow lift, eye lid lift, jowls etc) and neck lift has been one the best things I have done for myself. I say this with confidence because of Dr. Bolourian's immense knowledge. The quality of his surgical and artistic skill level and his ability to accomplish the best out come for me. I feel I received a tailored finish with custom designed details

What is recovery from a Neck Lift like?

Recovery from a neck lift is relatively quick, with most patients returning to work after one week. Discomfort is usually minimal and easily managed with pain medication. You will be provided with Dr. Bolourian's cell phone number in case you have any questions. We are here to support you in any way needed to promote optimal healing and results.

Does a Neck Lift come with any adverse side effects?

Your neck area may feel tight for a few weeks after surgery. This is a normal side effect and will resolve on its own—post-procedure bruising and swelling typically clear within three to four days. Any surgery comes with a small risk of more serious side effects such as infection, internal bleeding, or unsatisfactory results. Working with an experienced facial plastic surgery specialist and following your aftercare instructions carefully may minimize such risks.

When do we perform an isolated neck lift procedure as opposed to a mini facelift or a deep plane facelift?

As a general rule, an isolated neck lift procedure is performed for patients with minimal skin laxity under the chin or younger patients, generally in their 30s and 40s, looking for improvements in their neck and jawline. A traditional facelift incision in conjunction with a neck lift is always a preferred approach to address moderate to severe neck bands or the so-called “Turkey Waddle”.
